A critical first step in dealing with heart disease is to learn to talk to your doctor about your questions and worries. You are not the only person who has problems communicating their concerns to the health care provider who performs your check-ups. But when it comes to heart wellness no question should be left unanswered.

Sometimes people hope that the answers to their questions will come out in the process of being examined instead of asking them point blank. HMOs and the busy schedules of doctors with waiting rooms full of patients sometimes do not allow the doctor to spend as much time with each patient as they would like. In particular, women need to voice their concerns, since heart disease isn’t as readily associated with women, even though they are equally at risk.

Questions that you should ask your doctor include what your blood pressure is recorded as and what is normal for you. Glucose and cholesterol levels need to be checked to see if they’re in an acceptable range. Find out from your physician what tests are recommended for your age group presently and in the years to come.

If medication has been prescribed, do not hesitate to ask if there are side effects, what the drug is supposed to do, and whether you should take other medication, even over the counter, with your prescribed medicine. Ascertain whether you’ll be on the medication for an indefinite period of time or if it’s a temporary treatment. If recommended by your physician, you’ll need to take further tests to monitor the effects of your medication. The liver is one organ that most doctors consider testing when a patient is on certain medicines.

If you always get home and remember something that you forgot to ask the doctor, make a “need to know” list and take it with you on your next visit. Do not forget to bring with you the medications that you are presently on as well. This is essential if you are under the care of more than one health care practitioner.

Add to your list any surgeries or relevant illness that you have had and been treated for in the past few years. This should be recorded in your file so your physician is up to speed on any potential problems.

If you’re worred about forgetting what the doctor tells you, be sure to take notes or even use a recording device to use for later reference. Do not be afraid to check around for a second opinion if you are not comfortable with the treatment that your doctor recommends or if you do not feel that he or she listened to your worries or questions.

Although it is not critical to know all the details of the dynamics between fish oil and LDL cholesterol on your health, some basic knowledge should be helpful to convince you to get regular amounts of fish oil. Initially we need to recognize that cholesterol is typically broken down into two major categories. HDL cholesterol is generally good because it is known to be able to move easily to the liver to be processed out of the body. Contrarily, LDL cholesterol is considerably less dense than HDL cholesterol and tends to adhear to the walls of the blood vessels creating plaque and narrowing. Since today on average some seventy-five percent of the cholesterol in the human body is LDL cholesterol which adds to plaque formation and in turn significantly contributes to the development of heart disease as well as.

Fish Oil or Man Made Drugs?

A primary factor to reduce the risk of heart disease is keeping the LDL cholesterol levels low. It is usually time to look for a way to reduce the LDL cholesterol when it is above 100 mg/dl. Of course this can be done with synthetic drugs made for this precise purpose but naturally along with these medicines come side effects that could potentially be worse than not taking the drug at all. Of course determining whether these drugs are appropriate for you should happen only with the advice of your doctor.

However, there are alternatives to these synthetic drugs. LDL cholesterol, both history and testing have shown, can be facilitated in behaving like HDL to move excess cholesterol back to the liver for processing when it interacts with fish oil. Omega 3 fatty acids are high in fish oil. The ability of these three fatty acids, ALA, EPA and DHA to bond with the LDL cholesterol diminishes the chances of it creating plaque in the blood vessels. The net result as the synthetic drugs without the potentially harmful side effects can be obtained with the combination of LDL cholesterol and fish oil.

Best Source of Fish Oil

The book seems to still be open on what the best source is for the Omega 3 fatty acids. Many say that fish high in Omega 3 such as tuna, salmon or mackerel at least three to four times per week. Others say that a quality capsule made by a responsible manufacturer is a good way to go. The debate will probably continue for sometime but it will not be about fish oil and LDL cholesterol but rather about how to take the fish oil.

What makes the water you drink “healthy water”? Most of us know that there is problem with some of our drinking water – sometimes it is the taste, other times it’s the smell. But what ever it is, most of us don’t believe that our drinking water is healthy.

It’s estimated 60% to 80% of all cancers are environmental in origin. Several studies have demonstrated the presence of chemical carcinogens in surface, ground water, and municipal treated drinking water.
However, often overlooked are the beneficial properties in drinking water that can help protect us from cancer – namely total dissolved solids (TDS), hardness, and pH.

Drinking waterwith higher amounts of TDS and hardness results in lower heart disease and cancer mortality rates.

Fluoridation is a highly emotional and controversial issue in which it is difficult to separate fact from fiction. The bottom line: Is it effective? Is it safe?

Fluoride toxicity has been linked to genetic damage in plants and animals, birth defects in humans, plus a series of allergic reactions ranging from fatigue, headaches, urinary tract irritations, diarrhea and many other problems.

Dr. Dean Burk, former researcher with the National Cancer Institute, claims “one tenth of all cancer deaths in this country can be shown to be linked to fluoridation of public drinking water.”

Worldwide there is very little fluoridation. Countries that start usually end up stopping it.
Is the chlorine found in our water used for drinking is developing both cancer and atherosclerosis? Josepgh Price,MD, in the end of 1960 decade penned a fascinating, still not truly accepted book demonstrating the co-relation between “Coronaries, Cholesterol, Chlorine.”

His experiments clearly demonstrate that “the basic cause of atherosclerosis and heart attacks and most common forms of strokes is chlorine. The chlorine contained in drinking water.”
Can chlorine be linked to cancer too? Chlorine combines with natural organic matter creating cancer-causing trihalomethanes (THMs).

Studies from Louisiana, New York, Maryland, and Ohio reveal where there are higher levels of THMs there are higher levels of cancer. Proper water filtration systems can remove these carcinogens.
Bottled water is big business. Generally the bottled water tastes better in comparison the tap water. But is it “healthy water?” It depends on several factors.

Is it hard? Is it moderately high in TDS (total dissolved solids)? Most bottled waters in the United States do not give the information you need to answer these questions. Many bottled waters are processed water using distillation, reverse osmosis, de-ionization or filtration. Frankly, you can do this yourself and save money.
Of the more than 700 brands of bottled water available in the US, around 80% are processed water.
Purchase only bottled natural spring or artesian well waters that come closest to the “healthy water” criteria hardness 170 mg/l and TDS around 300 mg/l.

Another “healthy water” option is using an effective filter. There are excellent, mediocre, and poor filters on the market. Most states require 3rd party testing of water products; however, most people have difficulty understanding the results.

Preliminary research suggests that the ingestion of harmful chemicals from drinking water may not be the primary exposure.

Skin absorption rates for toxic chemicals in both children and adults are much higher than from oral ingestion for toluene, ethyl benzene, and styrene.Â

Inhalation during showering of TCE (trichloroethylene) was 6 to 80 times greater than from drinking the water. Lovers of hot tubs and pools take note.

One solution to consider is a whole-house filtration system for chemical removal, not mineral extraction. Point of use filters for bathing, showering, and drinking are also recommended.

In order to determine an appropriate course of child obesity treatment there are a number of factors that first needs to be determined. Without a distinct definition of obesity it is impossible to develop the best child obesity treatment and if we are actually treating the appropriate thing. Without this kind of information it is possible that what seems to be an appropriate child obesity treatment might actually be more harmful than beneficial.

In general if the body does not burn up the amount people eat this is when obesity occurs. More specifically, behavior to cultural factors or genetic and biological factors can contribute to the very complex causes of obesity.

First, a Defininition of Obesity

Obesity is often defined as the excessive accumulation of fat in the body, and is prevalent when total body weight is more than 25% fat in boys and 32% in girls. Childhood obesity is usually defined as 120% of the ideal weight-for-height ratio. Obviously if obesity is not treated in time, it can lead to clinically sever obesity or morbid obesity, which is usually defined as being 100 pounds or more than the ideal body weight and will often lead to serious chronic disease.

Kids who are obese need child obesity treatment because they are at a higher risk of maturing into an obese adult with the likely hood to be prone to certain illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension, coronary heart disease and low self esteem.

Basic Child Obesity Treatment

First, child obesity treatment begins with appropriate and early action in relation to weight control. The objective of weight loss for children and adolescents is not simply weight loss but the aim is to decrease the weight gain so that the youngster can grow into their normal body weight over time.

Second, child obesity treatment should have a formal exercise program, which can make the youngster more active thus burning more fat, increasing energy expenditure and helping to maintain weight. Be aware that most of the studies have indicated that exercise alone cannot help in losing weight unless it is coupled with other interventions, such as behavior modifications or nutrition education.

Third, another important aspect of child obesity treatment is appropriate diet. For children, fasting or a large decrease in calories can be quite harmful psychologically and is not advisable. It could also adversely influence the development of the child’s body and could influence the child’s idea of good eating habits. Along with a moderate calorie restriction it is necessary to help a child have a balanced and nutritious diet.

Fourthare behavioral strategies that can be used for child obesity treatment. There are various behavioral strategies that can be used for children that are affectively used by adults to treat obesity. These include an increase in physical activity along with self-monitoring and record keeping of food intake. Slowing down the rate of eating, using incentives and rewards for desirable behavior, and limiting the place and time of eating are effective as well

Beneficial child obesity treatment is a combination of diet management, moderate exercise and behavior modification all of which affect the lifestyle of the child. To greatly affect a childs health and well being both in the short term and for life, this type of child obesity treatment should be used to develop appropriate life choices.

Diabetes is a disease that is exploding in the United States. There are now 26 million people who have the disease. In addition, about 1 out of 3 children alive today will develop diabetes during their lifetime.

With this explosion of diabetes it is becoming more important to find a diabetic doctor who can provide the best care and help one avoid the many possible serious complications of the disease. Diabetes directly damages many different tissues in the body. The eyes are at risk of damage to the small blood vessels in the back of the eye. This can lead to blindness. The kidneys become damaged. Without proper kidney function, one can need to be on dialysis. Diabetic nerve damage can impair the ability to notice an open sore or infection. This can lead to a leg amputation.

Heart disease is also a major killer among diabetics. We know that if you compare two people who are identical, except one of them has diabetes, the person who has diabetes is four times more likely to have a heart attack.

Essentially all of these problems stemming from diabetes are preventable. However in order to prevent them, one must have early treatment and evaluation by a highly qualified diabetes doctor. In this article we will attempt to help you choose a great diabetes doctor.

When anyone goes to the doctor these days, it seems like the doctor is in a rush. It isn?t that doctors don’t care about your problems. The reason for this is the way Medicare pays doctors makes it extremely difficult for doctors to spend as much time as they might need in order for you to understand your condition.

Some doctors today will see upwards of sixty patients in the office every day. When a doctor tries to see this many patients he simply cannot spend more than a couple of minutes with each patient. That leaves the bulk of the care and explanations with an assistant or nurse. This person may or may not fully understand the implications be able to describe them to you in such a way that will help you the most.

So, how do you find a diabetic expert to serve as your doctor? The answer is simple. Look for a diabetes doctor who is an expert and who emphasizes patient education.

The type of doctor who has the most specialized training about diabetes is an endocrinologist. They have the most expertise about the ways that organs work together. And the way your organs work together is critical when you have diabetes.

Today most doctors that emphasize education have a website. Websites can give you clues about the experience you will have with the doctor. The doctor?s website should not look like a yellow-page ad. The website should function primarily to provide loads of helpful information geared toward patient education. If you don’t seem to be able to find enough helpful information on the doctor’s website, then you might not get a lot of helpful information when you speaking with the doctor in the office either.

If you believ you have found a great diabetes doctor, don’t rush to make an appointment. You should first call the office and ask a number of questions. First, ask how many patients the doctor sees. This should give you an idea of how much time the doctor will spend with you. If you have a lot of questions, or very little understanding of your diabetes, you must find a doctor that will spend time with explanations. Otherwise, you might wind up on dialysis or suffering from a below the knee amputation. Make sure that you see a doctor who limits his practice to 20 or 30 patient per day.

Ask whether or not the doctor did any advanced traing after medical school such as a or fellowship or residency specific to diabetes. By asking this question, you will find out whether or not, he is a specialist. You don?t want to be treated for diabetes by someone who treats all kind of different illnesses. Get someone who truly enjoys managing diabetes. You want to an expert. You don’t want a jack-of-all-trades.

Ask if the doctor has done any research or published articles related to diabetes? A doctor who does clinical research is likely to stay on the leading edge of advances in diabetes treatments. Such a person typically enjoys writing articles and sharing what they find with others. In general doctors who write articles are likely to be willing to spend more time with you in explaining your condition. Knowledge is power. The more you learn, the better equipped you will be to manage your diabetes.

Find out of the doctor will he perform a diabetic foot exam? This often separates the good docs from the great ones. Don?t expect your endocrinologist to be a foot expert. However, a diabetes expert will recognize the importance of making sure that you don’t develop a foot problem that leads to a diabetic foot or leg amputation. If the office staff tells you that this doctor never examines feet, you should find another doctor.

Finally, ask how quickly the doctor would see you if you had a true diabetic emergency. Even the busiest of doctors have to recognize diabetic emergencies and deal with them immediately. If the doctor does not see emergency patients immediately, find another doctor.

For example with a diabetic foot emergency, we know that being evaluated and treated within a few hours (instead of a few days) can make the difference between an an office visit or an amputation. In some cases, it can even be life or death.

Being diagnoses with diabetes can be frightening. However, if you find the right diabetic expert to take care of you, you can live a long and active life. Do a little research and asking the right questions.

Everyone who has ever been to the doctor has had their blood pressure checked. Without blood pressure you wouldn’t be able to live. The blood could not circulate though out the body and carry oxygen to your vital organs. One in every five Americans has hypertension!

You can live for many years with high blood pressure without seeing or feeling any symptoms. This is why hypertension is often nick named, “the silent killer.” Even though you are not showing any signs the high blood pressure is still affecting your bodily functions.

Blood pressure is very easy to check. A cuff is wrapped around your arm and then the cuff is pumped full of air, the air is then let out slowly and your blood then slowly can return to the artery. The nurse will count the time between the beats and how many beats in a certain amount of time. An average blood pressure is 120 over 80.

The force when your artery beats against your blood vessel walls and when your artery is at rest is your blood pressure. A high blood pressure also known as hypertension is about 140 over 90. Low blood pressure is considered at 90 over 60. This is when symptoms start to occur.

Understanding your blood pressure is important because there are many risks with both high and low blood pressures. With high blood pressure you have a greater risk of coronary heart disease/, heart attack, and strokes. Anyone can have high blood pressure. It is most common to have higher blood pressure once you reach the age of 35, but it is not uncommon for children to have high blood pressure as well.

People that are most common to have high blood pressure are middle aged to elderly. Also smokers and drinkers are proven to have elevated blood pressure level. Women who take birth control often are at risk as well. People with kidney disease, mellitus, or gout may have high blood pressure as well.

Your blood pressure can change at any time. It is affected by many things from activity to stress. Other things that can affect it are diet, temperature, posture, and medications. Knowing if you already have high blood pressure is important, due to the fact that you may want to limit your physical activity, or watch what medications you are taking.

Your blood pressure can affect your body in many ways. Having hypertension adds a workload onto you heart. In return you heart has to pump and work much harder to carry the blood through arteries that are under great pressure. Other areas of your body may be affected as well, such as you kidney, eyes, and brain.

Hypertension can be life long, or temporary. Keeping in under control and treating it is the most important thing you can do. Starting a treatment program with your doctor is important in overcoming this disease, or keeping it under control. Before trying blood pressure pills with risky side effects try a supplement that promotes oxygen in the blood and controls high blood pressure. This product is called Hypertril by Hamida Pharma.

Be safe and get your blood pressure checked. Go to regular doctor visits and inquire about your blood pressure! This could save your life.

Coconut oil is a type of food that people are looking to discover whether or not it is truly healthy for them to eat. This is one type of food that was not popular among people until most recently. This is chiefly due to the popularity of its uses in the celebrity industry. While there are rather a few people who think that the health advantages of coconut oil are many there are even more who believe the disadvantages are greater.

We agree and will express that not one thing is exact – but without defects how are we to judge it up against others of its kind to see if it is better? When questions arises it is time to consider the advantages against the disadvantages. You will be able to observe more accurately whether or not it is something that will better your wellness.

Too Much Saturated Fat

One of the biggest troubles that has been linked with coconut oil is the amount of saturated fat that it holds. Not all fats that we eat are unhealthy for us and it is true that we all need a particular quantity of fat in our diet in order to be healthy.

Still, saturated fat is a substance that everyone is admonished to keep away from. This is because it can increase cholesterol – which raises the chance of heart disease. Even So, there are a few health reports that present how required and beneficial it is to eat saturated fat. Like everything else you should consume it in moderation.

Great For Immune System

One of the greatest positives of coconut oil is its ability to raise the immune system and its defenses. Reports show that it has distinct natural antibiotics that can fend off certain viruses and bacteria. Our bodies will discover the antibodies within the oil and will employ it for its gain. This is the same process for babies when drinking breast milk.

Not FDA Approved

Despite the hopes that it can raise our immune system the FDA has not been effective to or will not the advantages of coconut oil into great lengths. Without the approval from the FDA numerous individuals will automatically assume that this oil has no natural benefits in any way.

Learn about the different Coconut Oil Heath Advantages and whether or not you really want to start the Coconut Diet for yourself.

Cholesterol levels are being tested as part of regular health screening all over the world yet many people are confused by their cholesterol numbers and how they are expressed. Part of this confusion may stem from the fact that most of the cholesterol literature is coming from the United States where they still report cholesterol levels in units that are different from those used in Canada, Europe and a good portion of the rest of the developed world. So if you are looking for information to help you understand your cholesterol test results you might not be able to understand the numbers that are reported in the American literature, that includes the internet.

The United States reports cholesterol levels in mg/dl (milligrams per decilitre) of blood. The rest of the world is using the measurement called mmol (or millimoles per litre). Without going back to basic chemistry from high school, suffice it to say that they are different measurements. So is it any wonder that these two ways of expressing your cholesterol numbers are so different?

Here is how the two different systems of measurement stack up for desirable cholesterol levels.

* Total cholesterol = less than 200 mg/dL
* LDL = less than 100-129 mg/dL (below 100 is best)
* HDL = more than 40 mg/dL (greater than 60 is considered protective against heart disease)

However, as expressed in the SI units (International System of Measurement) that most of the world is using the numbers are stated differently. (You can remember which letters refer to healthy and lousy by remembering it this way…H stands for healthy lipoprotein and L stands for lousy lipoprotein.)

* Total cholesterol = less than 5.2 mmol/L
* LDL = in the range of than 2.6 – 3.3 mmol/L (less than 2.6 is best)
* HDL = in the range of more than 1 to 1.5 mmol/L (higher is better) mmol/L

Can you see the difference in how the cholesterol numbers are expressed? The difference of course is in the units that are being measured.

Think of it like metric and imperial measures. Your weight in pounds might be a three digit number but in kilograms it could be a two digit number. Same weight different measurements.

When used to determine risk of heart disease it is not the specific cholesterol levels that are analyzed but rather the ratio of HDL in your total lipid profile. This number is called the cholesterol ratio and it gives an indication of how much of your total cholesterol is the “good stuff”.

The reason that the ratio is important is because the HDL (good stuff) is so beneficial that it can protect you from the effects of the LDL if it is in your body in sufficient quantities. So even if your LDL is higher that desirable levels, if the HDL is high as well, if the ratio comes within the desired range then the risk to your health is less.

The goal is to keep the cholesterol ratio below 5:1; the optimum ratio is 3.5. The cholesterol ratio comes in at the same number no matter which system of measurement is used to express the specific cholesterol levels.

The cholesterol ratio is obtained by dividing the total cholesterol number by the value given for the HDL. For example, if a person has a total cholesterol of 240 mg/dL and an HDL of 60 mg/dL, the ratio would be 4.

Using the SI system of measurement if the total cholesterol is 7.20 mmol/L and the HDL is 1.8 mmol/L the ratio is still 4.

You can see how this is a better way of understanding risk and prevents confusion that might result from not being familiar with the units that are used to express cholesterol levels.

This information is also helpful for understanding why the strategies why the for cholesterol imbalances work. Some of the best strategies are the ones that raise the HDL levels. In particular, exercise has been found to be one of the best ways to improve the cholesterol ratio because it raises HDL levels. By contrast smoking has been found to lower HDL levels so no exercise and smoking is a recipe for low HDL levels, a poor cholesterol ratio, and a higher risk of heart disease.

Cholesterol is found in every cell of the body and is essential for the maintenance of good health. Low cholesterol levels have been associated with poor health so the goal is not to eliminate or reduce cholesterol entirely but to establish the desirable levels of each type of cholesterol so that the protective benefits of the HDL can work for you in maintaining good health.

So don’t get mixed up when trying to understand you cholesterol levels. No matter what way the numbers are expressed the message is the same. You want to have enough of the good stuff and not so much of the bad stuff!

Congestive heart disease affects about five million Americans, and several medical professionals believe that within five years time about half of those people will unfortunately die from their state. Congestive heart disease is marked by the heart’s inability to pump efficiently enough to supply the body with freshly oxygenated blood. It is the leading cause of hospitalization among senior citizens and accounted for nearly 20% of the hospitalization of this age group in 2003.

Since congestive heart disease is a state that warrants consideration, a brief conversation of several of the risk factors might be in order. There are going to be many times in your lives where something happens and a lot of the factors were those that could not be helped, but there is a boat load of things someone could change about there life in order to lower any risk you may have.

Risk Factors That Cannot be Helped

There are a number of risk factors for congestive heart disease that simply can’t be helped. One such factor is a prior heart attack, and progressed age, specifically over the age of 65, is another common factor for this state.A history of diabetes is another one of course.Congestive heart disease might be a state to watch out for although it is very treatable these days you must understand that the progression of the disease is not reversable, If you have one of these medical conditions and you catch it early it is very treatable.

Another risk factor that cannot be changed when dealing with congestive heart disease is having a genetic disposition to the disease.Knowledge of your total family history and doing a bank of Genetic testing can tell a doctor without a shadow of doubt whether you have congestive heart disease or not and he can also tell you whether or not you should be concerned.

Risk Factors the Can Be Changed

While some factors that signify the potential for congestive heart disease cannot be helped, there are a number that can. These factors consist of such things as continuing high blood pressure, drug or alcohol abuse, thyroid disease, and even heart valve disease. All these risk factors, especially drug and alcohol abuse can be managed with help from your medical professional or friendly neighborhood physician. The best direction i would say this time is to stop this disease from affecting your life and the lives that love you that are around you by working with your doctor to come up with a plan of attack on the congestive heart disease itself.

Unfortunately, congestive heart disease is hard to diagnose because it frequently occurs as a result of or in conjunction with other forms of heart disease. Perhaps the best hope for patients with this disease is to catch it early and begin treatment as soon as possible.

preventing heart disease

In todays modern world medicine has come a very long way in telling us the determing factors pf what the causes of heart diseases are, and by the way will also tell us how to prevent and treat the disease. Just fifty years ago, most people didn’t go to the doctor unless they were sick, and the medical profession itself didn’t really warn its patients about heart disease, unless the person showed serious signs of it or had a close family member with the disease. Now, thankfully, a much more pro-active approach is taken by both the patient and the doctor in preventing heart disease, as well as treating it.

An Ounce of Heart Disease Prevention

Perhaps one of the best ways to prevent heart disease is to change the patient’s outlook on diet and exercise. It has been shown, time and time again, by such medical groups as the American Medical Association and the American Heart Association that a diet low in fat and low in calories is a great way to lower a person’s cholesterol, which is a major risk factor when it comes to heart disease. Add to that a regular doctor approved exercise routine and regular monitoring by the family doctor, and you will be an active participant in the battle to prevent heart disease.

One thing to always remember, of course, is that you and your doctor should be a team in the challenge to prevent heart disease. Routine monitoring of such things as your blood pressure, cholesterol level, general weight and health, as well as indications of other diseases that might complicate the situation are all very important things that both you and your chosen medical professional should be on the look out for. So, even if you’re not overly concerned about preventing heart disease, see your doctor on a regular basis and talk with them. All according to what you might find out, you may be able to get a very big jump on your journey down the road of hearts disease prevention.

When Exercise and Diet Aren’t Enough

While good diet and regular exercise are great ways to help prevent heart disease, sometimes they simply aren’t enough. Occasionally, your doctor will prescribe different medicines, to help with the battle. Those that can help the body process and lower the concentrations of cholesterol or help regulate and lower high blood pressure are the most common types. Whether or not prescription drugs are needed for your situation should be decided after a serious consultation with your doctor and some monitoring of your health and lifestyle. When you talk about wanting to prevent heart disease there are many different types of drugs that your doctor can prescribe to you , you and your doctor should sit and talk about all your options that are available.
Trying to prevent heart disease is definitely something that should be on the forefront of everyone’s mind. It is one of the leading killers of both men and women in the United States today.Your efforts in heart disease prevention will never be for not as long as you follow a regular diet that is low fat, follow an exercise program plan, and last but not least work side by side with your doctor.

Go to fat loss 4 idiots program for more advice about the best fat burning diet plan and an updated version about “I need to lose weight fast”.

You have to wear that old dress or suit and now you need to lose weight? Lose weight too fast and you could harm your body. A loss of muscle tone or even heart disease and problems with other internal organs can result from fad diets, miracle pills and extreme fasting. Remember Fen-Fen?

Determine how many calories you eat, because burning more than you consume results in weight loss. Keep a written record of every morsel, for at least a week. That means everything, every morsel, every sample, every sip of water. Now with the help of web sites like mypyramidtracker.gov figure out the calories in what you eat.

Now that you know the calories you consume, start cutting. One great way is to eat from a smaller plater. Remember, most restaurants and even people at home serve portions that are far larger than they should be. There are a lot of other simple cuts that don’t significantly change what you eat. These include salad dressing, butter, candies, and juice or soda. The average American consumes 240 calories a day from juice and soda. That’s 90,000 calories a year – 25 pounds! Simply switching to water as a main drink is a big step in weight loss. Get rid of white bread, sugar and carbs. These are easily replaced in your diet – try whole wild rice.

What about that side dish? Take a look. This portion of the meal often contains more calories than the main course. Make a switch to healthy foods, or get rid of the sides completely.

Pumping iron increases lean muscle mass, which increases your metabolism. That leads to burning more calories even when sitting still. Aerobic workouts are the key. Don’t pay attention to the 3-5 times a week school of thought on aerobics Make it seven days a week, which means an activity you can sustain day after day for the rest of your life.

You have your orders. Get it in gear!
